A car manufacturer is launching a new model to add to its existing range and wants to create awareness throughout the UK. The manufacturer also wants customers to test drive the car so they can appreciate the many new features. The manufacturer decides to use travel as an incentive for anyone who test drives the car in the first month, with up to 5,000 people expected to take up the offer.
Thomas Cook's 'Holiday Heaven' vouchers are chosen - this means the promotion can be launched within days and the manufacturer incurs no print or design costs. The overall cost to the manufacturer results in around £1 per voucher, per test drive. Each voucher recipient can book a week's holiday of their choice from more than 35 brochures and receive a £100 discount. The booking is made through Thomas Cook's call centre which is open extended hours, seven days a week.
Despite the limited campaign budget, this promotion has a broad appeal: the vouchers can be redeemed against a wide range of holidays and offer something for everyone who takes part, rather than rewarding just a few prize draw winners.
